SiteSlicer is an extension of the popular Mozilla Firefox browser that seeks to break down complex websites into easier-to-process sections.

Its purpose is to facilitate use of the web for people that may have trouble absorbing large amounts of information presented in an abrupt manner. Users are given access to a toolbar with different methods to simplify the website they are currently viewing.

I applied for and received a small research grant to develop this piece of software. I was the only developer on the project.

Features

Processing of websites using an intelligent parsing of the DOM tree, allowing users to select pieces of websites for individual viewing.
Simple layout manipulation for busy websites to simplify them into one-column formats.
Ability to disable the CSS on a page, often removing much of the clutter.
Lots of control over how slices are defined: User can select any combination of DIV's, TABLE's, TABLE cells, and set a threshold for minimum acceptable slice size.
