Chuck Liddell is a senior at Duquesne University. He is currently majoring in both Computer Science and Digital Media Arts. Chuck also has a Math minor. He expects to graduate in May of 2009 with two Bachelor's degrees.
Chuck feels that the two majors complement each other perfectly.
Computer Science indulges his inner geek, allowing him to dive deep into the guts of computer hardware, artificial intelligence, cryptology, algorithms and data structures, operating system coding, networking, programming and computer security.
Digital Media Arts balances out his technical interests with a strong emphasis on visual communication. Through Digital Media Arts Chuck is able to explore digital imaging and manipulation, website design and development, server and client-side scripting, 3D modeling and animation, and photography.
Chuck has taken the following major-related classes:

Listed below are examples of work that Chuck has done through the course of his studies.
| 3D Modeling | A class taught in Alias Maya that introduced the basics of 3D modeling. The link goes to some screenshots of my final model for the class, a Dark Angel Space Marine from the Warhammer 40k mythos.
| Artificial Intelligence | Link to a detailed description of the final project for my Artificial Intelligence course. AI SK, the name of the project, was a demonstration of artificial intelligence through the use of a neural network. I wrote an interface that allowed AI SK to play StormKeep, an older game that I wrote. The AI SK program would teach itself how to play the game better, and got more and more skilled at the game as its self-training progressed.
| Cryptology | A course that plunged deep into the nuts and bolts of both historical and modern-day cryptography. We covered in detail the mathematical theory behind cryptography, its practical applications, and the events surrounding its development.
| Digital Imaging | Fun class in the Journalism department. Nikon D40's are used to take various pictures and then students manipulate them using Photoshop CS3. The link goes to a page with some examples of my work from the class.
| Javascript | A class all about the use of javascript in websites. This links to a homepage I had to make for the classes, with several examples of assignments as well as my final assignment for the course.
| Server Side Scripting | Server Side Scripting dealt primarily with ASP .NET scripting technology, but also covered ASP Classic extensively. This link is to a homepage I made for the class that demonstrates a few of the assignments as well as the final assignment for that class, an ASP .NET-driven database frontend. The link will take you off-site; use your browser's back button to return here.
| Animation | A course in the nuts and bolts of animation. A wide variety of techniques and animators were studied. Produced several types of animation using animation cranes; some examples are shown here.
| Visual Design & Layout | This course explored expressing complex ideas visually, interface design, typography, communication, and graphic work. Click this link to view a high-dynamic-range (HDR) photo with additional modifications as well as a video clip demonstrating kinetic typography (using the motion of text as an additional means of communicating an idea).
| Software Engineering | Part lecture and part hands-on, this course took the students in the class and turned them into a development team with a client and a project. About a dozen students worked together to analyze client requirements and design, code, and test a sophisticated GUI written in Java.
